The Uzbek delegation also proposed to establish transportation of perishable goods (fruits and vegetables) in reefer containers along the CASCA+ corridor and to create a system for online monitoring of the whereabouts of wagons and containers.
The CASCA+ multimodal transport project is an initiative of the state railways of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan. The route covers three regions – Central Asia (Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan), the South Caucasus (Azerbaijan and Georgia), and Anatolia (Turkey). The “+” sign in the name symbolizes the readiness to accept new participants.
In December 2022, the first container train with copper concentrate passed along the CASCA+ route (from Uzbekistan to Bulgaria).
