There, it supports logistics at the Paks II nuclear power plant construction site. The second modernized M62 runs between Ferencváros and Soroksár.
On this route, it hauls containers, partly replacing MÁV’s passenger traction, which is temporarily unavailable due to traffic restrictions. This solution allows RCH to avoid disruptions in freight services.
The locomotives were officially commissioned in May after passing all tests and acceptance procedures. As a result, RCH’s diesel fleet has grown to 26 units.
DLRR strengthens RCH’s freight transport flexibility
RCH representatives highlight that the DLRR-modernized units complement the existing fleet, which includes Siemens ER20s, 2068 series locomotives, CRRC Grasshoppers, and leased Alstom Traxx units from Akiem.
This variety ensures high efficiency in domestic freight operations. The diverse traction options help RCH quickly adapt to market demands.
DLRR’s role in innovation and sustainable logistics
Hungary recently tested a CRRC electric locomotive that hauled a 2,200-ton train using only lithium battery power in autonomous mode. This underscores the potential of battery-electric traction.
DLRR contributes to the sector’s advancement by implementing technical solutions that improve the reliability and sustainability of freight logistics.
