Patrick Schnieder lauded the ICE L as a demonstration of modernization reinforcing technology and the travel experience. He spotted barrier-free travel access, family areas, and state-of-the-art mobile connectivity among the main inventions resetting long-haul comfort.

Carlos de Palacio y Oriol confirmed Talgo’s long-term deal with Deutsche Bahn, adding that the step-free boarding and low-floor layout attest to increasing expectations on sustainability and accessibility from the travel by rail across Europe.
Deutsche Bahn prepares ICE L for future European routes
Internally, the ICE L has an all-new interior theme with high-color tones, streamlined seating arrangements, and variable lighting that changes according to the time of day. Engineers redrafted 562 seats after surveying more than 1,600 test users with an emphasis on ergonomic comfort and new-age usability. All seats include power outlets, folding tables, and tablet armrests.
DB’s new technology enhances network coverage by windows that allow mobile signals to travel unfettered, the necessity for boosters vanquished. Families can relish 46 seats on the biggest family area any ICE train has to offer, plus nine baby-compartment places.

The ICE L will begin operations between Cologne and Berlin on December 14, 2025, and subsequently on Hamburg, Westerland (Sylt), Frankfurt, and Cologne. Future long-haul routes will connect Amsterdam, Copenhagen, and Vienna and will further enhance the European coverage and competitiveness of Deutsche Bahn.
