Chinese CRRC has secured an order for electric trains in Serbia, this is reported by the railway transport news portal, Railway Supply.
The company has signed an agreement with the country’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure to supply five four-car trains for €54 million.

These rolling stock units are planned to operate at a maximum speed of 200 km/h on the Belgrade–Budapest line, which is set to open in early 2025. The trains must comply with European TSI requirements.
CRRC has been working on entering the European motor rolling stock market for several years.
Their first order came from the Czech carrier Leo Express for the supply of three six-car Sirius trains (with an option for 30 more) in 2016.
However, the contract was terminated in 2022, and CRRC continued the train’s certification independently.
The company is also certifying a double-decker train, DDEMU2. Private Austrian operator Westbahn plans to lease four of these units.
Additionally, CRRC developed the SFEMU train for Romania, but Alstom secured the promising large contract after a legal battle.
