The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has initiated a tender for the supply of 39 new metro cars for Bhubaneswar. The contract is valued at $61 million, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The new cars will form 13 trains, each with three cars.
The first and last cars will be motorized, while the intermediate car will be a trailer. These trains will be able to carry up to 972 passengers.
MPK SA in Krakow has canceled the tender for the supply of 90 new trams
The new cars will be made of stainless steel and equipped with automatic control systems at GoA2 level, as well as condition monitoring systems.
Applications for the tender are accepted until August 29, 2024. The first prototype train must be delivered within two years after the contract is signed, and the remaining cars within the following year.
According to the Make in India program, the supplier can manufacture only three trains, which amount to nine cars, outside the country.
The remaining 30 cars must be produced in India. These trains will operate on the first line of Bhubaneswar Metro, which will be 26 km long.
The fully elevated line will include 20 stations, connecting the airport with the city center.
In 2022, DMRC already signed a contract with the French company Alstom for the manufacture and supply of 52 six-car Metropolis trains.
These trains accommodate up to 300 passengers, and the contract was worth €312 million.
The new trains are being manufactured at Alstom’s plant in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.
