DB tests multilingual AI assistant at Berlin Airport
12.08.2025
DB has launched a pilot project for a multilingual AI assistant at Berlin Brandenburg Airport to simplify train ticket purchases and improve passenger service quality. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

DB expands digital services for passengers
Deutsche Bahn has installed an interactive kiosk with a screen, speakers, and a microphone at Berlin Brandenburg Airport. On the display, passengers see a virtual assistant named Kiana, powered by a large language model.

Travelers can choose a route, receive recommendations, and instantly get a QR code linking to the DB website or the DB Navigator app to complete the purchase. The service supports nine languages, making it convenient for tourists and business travelers.
DB evaluates the effectiveness of the new project
During the testing phase, a DB employee is stationed next to the kiosk to assist passengers and collect feedback. However, due to station noise, the assistant sometimes struggles to recognize speech, requiring users to repeat their requests.
According to DB, only about 10% of passengers who interact with Kiana complete a ticket purchase through the assistant. Despite this, the company sees the project as promising, as it complements traditional ticket offices and online services.
DB plans to implement similar solutions at other stations. This step will strengthen its digital transformation, improve passenger comfort, and provide high-level service to international customers.
