Five trains were moving through the tunnel during the event. Emergency teams helped evacuate 30 passengers from the trains and another 10 people from surrounding areas. Dallas Fire-Rescue treated nine individuals at the scene, and six others required hospital care. Fortunately, none of the injuries were critical.

DART Rail operations suspended during investigation

Because safety is the top priority, DART Rail operations remain suspended in the downtown corridor until further notice. The transit agency has deployed shuttle buses and recommended alternate bus routes to reduce disruption.

Passengers heading to Mockingbird from the CBD West Transfer Center should use Routes 3, 105, or 209. Riders traveling to Union Station from Akard and West End via Elm Street can use Routes 9, 45, 47, or 214. For Deep Ellum access via Commerce Street, Routes 9 and 18 are available.

Shuttle services now connect Victory, EBJ Union, West End, Akard, St. Paul, Pearl/Arts District, Deep Ellum, Cityplace/Uptown, and SMU/Mockingbird stations.

DART Rail issues response and real-time updates

DART thanked riders for their patience and acknowledged the inconvenience. A spokesperson emphasized their commitment to restoring normal service safely and quickly. “We appreciate everyone’s cooperation as we address the issue and ensure public safety.”

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire. So, DART advises all riders to follow official updates at DART.org for real-time service alerts and route changes.

This event underscores the importance of strong emergency coordination and rapid public communication in urban transit systems.
