The estimated amount of damage caused to the entire infrastructure of Ukraine due to the Russian military invasion during the month of the war was $63 billion, or UAH 1.8 trillion.

Damage to the transport infrastructure of Ukraine

Such data was announced by the deputy director of ProZorro.Sales and Head of the Center for Public Finance Analysis at Kyiv School of Economics Daria Marchak, informs Railway Supply magazine with reference to CFTS.

With regard to the transport infrastructure, according to the announced data, the following were damaged, destroyed or seized:

– roads – 8265 km – in the amount of 27 546 million USD;
– civil airports – 8 – the amount of damage is 6 816 million USD;
– railway infrastructure and rolling stock – the amount is still unknown – 2 205 million USD;
– bridges and bridge crossings – 260 – 1 452 million USD;
– ports and port infrastructure – 2 – 622 million USD;
– military airports – 10 – 390 million USD.

The loss of the world’s largest transport aircraft, An-225 Mriya, was tentatively estimated at $300 million.

Thus, the total damage caused to the transport infrastructure of Ukraine is now estimated at almost $40 million.

During the preparation of the report, detailed data from the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine was obtained.

It is noted that the project “Russia will pay” focuses on assessing the loss of Ukraine’s infrastructure as a result of the war and assessing the financial cost of these losses.

Currently, the project does not assess the total losses of the economy, which include not only direct losses of infrastructure, but also numerous “collateral” losses incurred by the economy as a result of the war (closure of a significant number of enterprises; loss of homes and jobs by millions of people; termination of investments, etc.).
