Czech Republic Approves HSR Section from Prosenice to Ostrava

The Ministry of the Environment confirmed that the project meets required environmental and public health standards. Officials reviewed noise levels, air quality, and ecosystem impact.

Experts determined that the line poses no unacceptable risk to health or the environment. This assessment clears the path for further project development with no major restrictions.

At the same time, potential effects on the Natura 2000 protected zone will be examined separately. A dedicated study will follow the EU’s Nature Conservation Act.

Moreover, SŽ is required to comply with 61 environmental conditions to minimize or offset any negative impact from construction and operation.

Czech Republic Prepares PPP Stage and International Link

The next phase covers the Brodek u Přerova–Ostrava section, which will be developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. This marks a milestone for the Czech Republic’s railway sector.

The Czech Republic is also planning for cross-border expansion. Once the domestic segment is complete, the HSR will connect to Katowice, Poland, and eventually continue to Warsaw.

By advancing this project, the Czech Republic strengthens its position in the trans-European transport network. The HSR line will support sustainable mobility and regional economic growth.
