CSX train strikes SUV in the town of Ulster early Friday after the vehicle became stuck on the tracks, police said, according to the Daily Freeman.

Ulster Police Chief Kyle Berardi said the SUV was crossing the rails south of the Leggs Mill Road crossing when its undercarriage got hung up on the rail. The driver tried to get the vehicle off the tracks, but it remained stuck and was struck by a CSX train, as described in a Patch report.

Police responded at 4:14 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, after a 911 call reported a “crash detection alert” at 55 Leggs Mill Road, according to an Ulster Police Department Facebook post. Officers found a 2020 Nissan Pathfinder with significant damage.
Police identify driver and describe how the SUV ended up on the tracks
Authorities identified the driver as Anita l. Noble-Hinchey, 59. Police said she was trying to leave the parking lot at 55 Leggs Mill Road, which sits next to the tracks south of the crossing, when the SUV ended up on the rails.
No injuries reported; occupants evaluated at the scene
Berardi said Noble-Hinchey and a passenger were not inside the vehicle when the train struck it. Both were checked at the scene by Empress Ambulance personnel and refused further medical attention, police said. No injuries were reported on the train, Berardi added.
A CSX spokesperson could not be immediately reached for comment.
