27.09.2024
At InnoTrans 2024, CRRC presented the innovative ART 2.0 transport — a wheeled ‘tram’ with hydrogen propulsion, distinguished by its eco-friendliness and enhanced efficiency, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

This three-section vehicle, measuring 30.8 meters in length, can carry up to 300 passengers and reach speeds of up to 100 km/h.

First showcased in Berlin, ART 2.0 represents a unique transportation solution that combines high capacity with environmentally friendly technology.
ART 2.0 can operate on various energy sources, including traction batteries, supercapacitors, and traditional overhead power lines.
The hydrogen version of this ‘tram’ provides a range of up to 390 km, while the battery mode allows it to travel up to 100 km on a single charge.
Range recovery of 20 km is possible with just a 5-minute refueling, highlighting the model’s convenience and mobility.
CRRC calls ART the world’s first rail-free train, essentially a three-section bus on rubber tires.
It runs on specially designated and marked road sections, similar to traditional trams but without the need for rails.
ART 2.0 is already in use in five Chinese cities on nine lines and is being tested in Malaysia, the UAE, Indonesia, Australia, and Turkey.
These innovative transportation solutions showcase future possibilities for eco-friendly travel and demonstrate how modern technologies can transform urban transport.
