CRRC presented a maglev capable of reaching 600 km/h at MODERN RAILWAYS 2025 in Beijing, showcasing cutting-edge solutions for future high-speed transport. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The company displayed the lead car of China’s first train with electrodynamic suspension on superconducting magnets. Its design minimizes friction and ensures stability at extremely high speeds.

CRRC Advances Magnetic Levitation Technology

According to the manufacturer, the car measures 29.355 m in length, 3 m in width, and 3.5 m in height. Its body uses aluminum alloy and carbon fiber for durability and reduced weight.

The suspension system allows movement on rubber wheels at low speeds. However, once the train reaches 150 km/h, it switches to magnetic levitation mode, providing smoother and more efficient travel.

CRRC Targets China’s Major Transport Hubs

The company plans to operate maglevs on routes linking Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Wuhan. Construction of dedicated lines could start in five years, as both trains and infrastructure remain under development.

In June, engineers at China’s High-Speed Maglev Technology Innovation Center tested a prototype weighing 1,100 kg. The experimental model reached 650 km/h in just seven seconds on a 600-meter track, proving the technology’s potential.

MODERN RAILWAYS 2025 gathered over 521 companies from 14 countries and attracted 72,000 visitors. The exhibition featured more than 30,000 items, including 30 train models, 22 of which were displayed by CRRC.

The project underscores China’s ambition to offer a high-speed alternative to air travel. Maglev technology promises shorter travel times and reduced environmental impact, creating a comfortable solution for medium-distance routes.
