In Carrington, it is due at 1:45 p.m. at 601 6th Ave. NE. The next stop is Harvey at 4 p.m. at 600 Lincoln Avenue, followed by a 6:45 p.m. appearance in Minot at 10 Main St. N. The final show that day is planned for Kenmare at 8:45 p.m., near the intersection of 1st Avenue Southwest and Central Avenue. These local stop times align with CPKC’s official U.S. Holiday Train route schedule in its Holiday Train timetable.
Free concerts by Lanco and Tiera Kennedy
Terry Cunha, a spokesperson for CPKC, said that during the Holiday Train’s time in North Dakota a total of seven shows will take place. Each of these CPKC Holiday Train Minot, Carrington, Harvey and Kenmare stops, along with the other communities on the route, will feature a free half-hour live concert by professional musicians Lanco and Tiera Kennedy.
At every stop the train effectively becomes a rolling stage, giving residents the chance to enjoy a free Lanco and Tiera Kennedy concert on the CPKC Holiday Train while taking in the decorated railcars and seasonal atmosphere, as also described on the CPKC Holiday Train official page.
Food bank donations and community impact
CPKC stresses that the Holiday Train is also about food bank donations at Holiday Train stops. Visitors are encouraged to bring either cash contributions or non-perishable food items for their local food banks. Cunha noted that all donations remain in the host communities to help people experiencing food insecurity, and that each site will have a station where food bank staff can collect contributions directly.
This year, the Holiday Train will support in Minot and area communities the Minot Salvation Army, Carrington Daily Bread, Central Dakota Food Pantry in Harvey and the Kenmare Food Pantry, underscoring CPKC Holiday Train support for Minot Salvation Army and local food pantries.
“We are thrilled to send this beautiful train filled with lights and music to spread the joy of the season and support the giving spirit of the holidays by assisting people experiencing food insecurity. It’s incredible to see communities come together every year to celebrate the holidays while supporting local food banks,” Keith Creel, CPKC president and CEO, said. CPKC’s global headquarters are in Calgary, Alberta.
The CPKC Holiday Train tours Canada and the U.S. in November and December to raise money, food and awareness for the important work that food banks do in their communities. Since its inception in 1999, the Holiday Train has raised more than $26.1 million and 5.4 million pounds of food for community food banks, a long-term impact that has also been highlighted by Railway Supply.
