In February, they launched a $127 million, 335,000-square-foot import-export hub at CPKC’s Kansas City facility. Scheduled to open in mid-2025, it will facilitate perishable food trade between Mexico and the U.S.

CPKC’s Commitment to Innovation

CPKC recently expanded its fleet with 1,000 refrigerated containers, doubling capacity for its Mexico Midwest Express (MMX) service. MMX, the first single-line refrigerated rail service between the Midwest and Mexico, reduces trucking reliance and enhances efficiency.

Americold, planning to invest $500 million–$1 billion in partnerships, sees Mexico as key to its growth. CEO George Chappelle called the collaboration with CPKC a “game-changer for North American cold chains.”

With strategic investments and innovative services, CPKC and Americold are revolutionizing temperature-sensitive supply chains, ensuring a more efficient future for North American trade.
