Container train sets new record by covering 4,500 km in 5 days: New achievement in transportation between China, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan
07.08.2024
A container train has successfully completed its route from China through Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan, covering 4,486 km in five days, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The train departed from the Kazakhstan-China terminal at Xi’an port. Containers were transshipped at the dry port KTZE Khorgos Gateway, after which they continued on Kazakhstan’s railways to the border station Saryagash.

From there, they proceeded to the final destination, Tashkent, one of the key transport hubs in Central Asia.
The speed of cargo delivery was ensured by the effective use of KTZ’s terminal capacities in China and close cooperation between the railway administrations of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in developing border infrastructure.
In particular, the capacity of the interstate junction station Saryagash was increased by 50%, significantly improving the cargo flow between the two countries, as reported in the company’s press release.
This accelerated service was made possible by the agreements reached in April during the meeting of the presidents of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in Khiva, which concerned the organization of cargo transportation on the China-Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan route and the development of the Trans-Afghan direction.
KTZ expects that the development of optimal routes using railway company resources will be a significant incentive for expanding transport and logistics capabilities and strengthening partnerships between the countries.
Additionally, in 2023, the volume of cargo transportation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan amounted to over 31 million tons, which is 17.2% more compared to the previous year.
As previously reported, KTZ transported over 122 million tons of cargo in the first half of the current year.
