CMRL Awards $30M Corridor-3 Building

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) propels Chennai’s transportation infrastructure with a $30-million contract for 17 entry and exit nodes along Corridor-3. The project, being spearheaded by Bridge and Roof Company (India) Limited, fortifies urban access and connectivity.

New hubs will be provided to the major stations like Nehru Nagar, Perungudi, and Thoraipakkam. All the locations have enhanced passenger circulation, commercial facilities, and transit-oriented facilities. And since the design supports accessibility, commuters will have quicker and safer access to the network.

Senior ministers and other officials, including Managing Director Thiru M.A. Siddique and Director T. Archunan, witnessed the signing. Their collaboration with Bridge and Roof signals Indian support for cost-effective public-private partnerships in metro growth.

CMRL Realizes Three-Level Metro Innovation in Vadapalani

At Vadapalani, CMRL engineers achieved a structural success by building a three-level metro line, including an upper flyunder, over an operational flyover and Phase-1 alignment. Lack of space prompted the team to innovate and employ the Launching Girder technique to install, safely, the U-girders between a span of 45 meters.

The extended pier cap—measuring 23 meters long and weighing about 1,200 metric tons—was completed in just two months after utility relocation. Because of this rapid execution, the project avoided traffic disruption and demonstrated exceptional precision.

This new station brings together three levels: a commercial level comprising stores and services, a ticketing and circulation concourse, and a train operation platform. All these together demonstrate how CMRL redefines urban mobility through innovation and technical know-how.
