Teams supplied 3,410 precast elements such as U-Girders, I-Girders, Pier Caps, and Parapets. Because of the careful coordination and timeline management, the engineers delivered high quality in the construction process as well as the operational aspects.

A staggering concrete requirement of 122,000 cu.m and steel of 18,000 tonnage was used in the project, taking the total structural material used above 240,000 tonnage, yet the Chennai Metro Railway Company ensured not a single major accident happened at the site.

Chennai Metro Strengthens Safety and Collaboration

The dual-layer corridor contains metro lines and an elevated road, requiring very intricate engineering and execution. Highly advanced modeling techniques and simulations have been used to resolve alignment and dimension issues without compromising precision and speed.

The Voyalanallur Casting Yard was the production workhorse. Teams focused on continuous casting, quality management, and logistics coordination for smooth delivery schedules. CMRL closely coordinated the process with the AEON Consortium and Larsen & Toubro for synchronized functions.

At the handed-over ceremony, representatives from the CMRL, the AEON Consortium, as well as the L&T Company, emphasized the importance of teamwork and safety as the key to success for the projects realized at the current phase of development of the metro in Chennai.
