Polish ČD Cargo subsidiary has expanded its fleet with three new TRAXX DC3 locomotives.

Locomotives intended only for operation on DC lines should further expand the presence of the Czech carrier on Polish rails. ČD Cargo leased the locomotives from Akiem, informs Railway Supply magazine, citing zdopravy.

“We took advantage of a very good rental offer from Akiem. DC3 is currently targeted at the Polish market. We will see how they have proven themselves in operation, and then we will take appropriate decisions, ”said Tomáš Tóth, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ČD Cargo.

Sale and lease of M62 and CME3 diesel locomotives

According to him, they are ideal for transporting medium-heavy freight trains. In total, Akiem has ordered 55 of these locomotives.
