Plasser & Theurer is actively testing its innovative machine for building and maintaining overhead contact lines, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The hybrid CatenaryCrafter 15.4 E3, combining energy from the contact line, traction batteries, and a diesel generator, is undergoing testing on the infrastructure of the Austrian operator OBB.

With a power of 520 kW, it is equipped with the European Train Control System (ETCS) and can reach the work site at speeds of up to 120 km/h independently or as part of a train.

The inaugural journey of the Dnipro City Express has commenced

The working equipment includes rods for contact line work, a crane, a three-section lifting platform, and a cargo basket with a maximum capacity of 450 kg.

Last year, OBB Infrastruktur signed a contract with Plasser & Theurer for 56 track machines, including 29 CatenaryCrafters, 21 MultiCrafters for track construction and maintenance, and 6 units for transporting various equipment.
