Over the next 10 years, the company plans to create a network of 18 terminals serviced by 50 routes, utilizing existing facilities in Germany, France, Italy, and the UK.
CargoBeamer’s unique horizontal loading technology allows for the transfer of 38 trailers onto platforms in just 20 minutes.
This is nine times faster compared to traditional crane equipment.
Additionally, transporting trailers by rail significantly reduces CO2 emissions—by almost 85% compared to road transport.
Funding for the construction of new terminals in Kaldenkirchen (North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany) and Domodossola (northern Italy) was provided by Germany’s Federal Railway Authority (EBA) and Switzerland’s Federal Office of Transport.
The total amount of public funding was €90 million.
Additionally, private venture firm Nordwind Ventures from Germany invested €50 million.

The terminal in Domodossola, located in a central transalpine freight hub, will annually remove up to 185,000 trailers from the roads.
This project will not only improve logistics but also make a significant contribution to environmental protection by reducing the number of trucks on the roads and cutting greenhouse gas emissions.
The ability to attract funding from various sources underscores the importance and significance of the program being implemented by CargoBeamer.
The construction of new terminals and the expansion of the route network enable the company to effectively meet the growing market demand for environmentally friendly and fast solutions for multimodal transport.
This project confirms CargoBeamer’s leadership in the market and demonstrates the prospects for further development of rail freight transport in Europe.
Amid increasing attention to environmental issues, the company’s solutions are becoming more sought after, ensuring a balance between transportation efficiency and environmental care.
