The Cando Rail acquisition of Texas Deepwater Partners brings the company its first U.S. rail terminal, folding the facility into Cando Rail & Terminals’ North American first- and last-mile infrastructure network.

In its announcement yesterday, the company said it had finalized the purchase of the Texas Deepwater rail terminal and associated operations, as reported by Progressive Railroading.
Texas Deepwater energy logistics terminal on the Houston Ship Channel
Texas Deepwater is a joint venture between USD Group LLC and Pinto Realty Partners that was created to develop a Texas Deepwater energy logistics rail terminal on the Houston Ship Channel. Cando Rail & Terminals highlighted this role in its announcement and in a press release on its website. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

With the Texas Deepwater facility added to its footprint, the Cando Rail & Terminals network can now store and stage more than 13,000 rail cars, a development also covered by Railway Supply. In total, the company owns and operates 15 rail terminals and one short line, and it provides rail operations at more than 50 customer locations.
Cando Channelview Terminal on the Houston Ship Channel
Cando Rail President and CEO Brian Cornick refers to the Texas Deepwater site as the Cando Channelview Terminal, describing it as a multicustomer, multipurpose facility for rail-car storage, staging and transloading. The terminal sits on the north side of the Houston Ship Channel and serves many of the world’s largest petrochemical producers.
It currently offers capacity for 900 rail cars, has surplus real estate available for future growth and maintains rail connections to BNSF Railway, CPKC and Union Pacific Railroad through the Port Terminal Railroad Association, supporting both existing and new shipper customers as well as partnerships with existing and new Class I railroads.
