CAF: Launch of Rolling Stock Maintenance Depot in Sweden
13.03.2024
Spanish company CAF continues to expand its capabilities in servicing and supplying rolling stock in Europe, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The recently opened depot in the Swedish city of Nässjö is another step in this direction.
Equipped with modern technical maintenance systems, this 35,000-square-meter center is intended for servicing trains manufactured by CAF and destined for operation in Sweden.
The strikes by German railway workers affect the logistics of metallurgical companies
Featuring five railway tracks and automated washing and de-icing systems, the depot will enable the maintenance and repair of rolling stock in the shortest timeframes.
A workshop with an automatic spare parts warehouse will ensure uninterrupted operation of the center.
It is planned that the depot will house and service suburban trains ordered by the Swedish company Transitio AB from CAF under a contract for the supply of electric and diesel-electric trains. The contract also includes an option for additional rolling stock deliveries.
Trains based on the Civity platform and adapted to the harsh climate conditions of the region will contribute to the improvement of Sweden’s transportation infrastructure.
The acquisition of the Swedish company EuroMaint in 2019 allowed CAF to strengthen its position in the region.
