The public transport operator of Lisbon, CARRIS, has commenced trials of tram cars manufactured by CAF and training drivers to operate them, as reported by the railway portal Railway Supply.

This marks the first introduction of new trams in the city in 28 years.

The testing of CRRC train components has been completed in China

In December 2019, CAF was announced as the winner of the tender to supply 15 tram cars and provide their maintenance for 5 years in Lisbon.

The contract, valued at €43.4 million, was also contended by Stadler.
