CAF to Deliver Trains and Trams for France Worth $327 Million

CAF signed two contracts worth $327 million to produce trains and trams for French regions, assembling them at its own facilities in France. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
Since 2022, the company has invested $11 million annually in plant modernization to strengthen local production and expand its presence in the European market.

CAF and Alstom Partner on Coradia Polyvalent Project
The Burgundy project is being carried out in cooperation with Alstom as part of the 2022 deal where CAF acquired the Coradia Polyvalent platform and related assets.

Alstom will supply bogies, traction motors, electric equipment, and onboard computer systems, ensuring technical integration and high assembly standards.
The contract includes five six-car electric trains with 355 seats for SNCF intercity routes and nine four-car dual-mode trains for TER services with 228 seats.
These units will expand the existing Burgundy fleet, which already operates 48 trains of the same model.
CAF to Build Urbos Trams for Grenoble
CAF’s factory in Bagnères-de-Bigorre, located in the Pyrenees, will build 38 low-floor Urbos trams for the Grenoble metropolitan area.
The contract includes an option for nine additional units. Deliveries will start in 2028, replacing the current local fleet.

Each tram can carry 281 passengers, including 82 seated. The models will be tailored to Grenoble’s operational requirements for accessibility, capacity, and comfort.
CAF’s new rolling stock will improve public transport and reduce strain on the city’s infrastructure.
