The reason for this was insufficient safety control and frequent railway accidents.
A recent incident occurred on August 1 on the Mirkovo-Dolno Kamartsi section. Five cars derailed.
According to preliminary data, the cause of the accident was the unsatisfactory condition of the railway infrastructure.
The minister emphasized that the current NKŽI leadership has repeatedly demonstrated an inability to effectively manage processes in one of the country’s largest state-owned companies.
Gvozdeykov noted that the latest incident once again confirms the presence of problems with the management of railway safety systems.
He added that responsibility for the incidents should not only lie with the director and chairman of the board but also with the employees responsible for the operation and condition of the railway infrastructure.
It was previously reported that Bulgaria is considering the possibility of building a high-speed railway.
