Bulgaria is Modernizing its Railways: Škoda to Supply 25 New Electric Trains

Bulgaria is embarking on a major modernization of its railway infrastructure thanks to a new contract with Škoda Group, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Under the agreement, valued at over half a billion euros, up to 25 modern electric trains will be delivered to the country.

The deal includes the supply of 24 electric trains based on the RegioPanter model, with the option to add five more units. It also includes a 15-year service agreement.
The new trains will be equipped with air conditioning, ergonomic seating, and Wi-Fi, significantly enhancing passenger comfort.
The trains will reach speeds of up to 160 km/h, and the safety systems will comply with European standards, including ETCS Level 2.
Half of the cars will be designed with a low-floor configuration to ensure easy access for all passengers.
Bulgarian Minister of Transport and Communications Krasimira Stoyanova highlighted that the contract represents an important step in the development of the railway sector.
She expressed gratitude to the Ministry team for successfully concluding the deal and expressed hope for future contracts funded under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
