Financing for the €140 million procurement is expected to come in part from the EU Cohesion Fund.

Deliveries are anticipated to commence after the shipment of 20 five-section Urbos trams ordered late last year.

A framework contract for the delivery of 37 trams with an option for an additional 87 units was signed between BKK and CAF in 2014.

Under this framework, Budapest has already received 56 five-section trams measuring 32.4 meters and 17 nine-section trams measuring 55.9 meters (considered the longest trams in the world).
