Budapest’s Public Transport Gets a Major Upgrade

The latest CAF trams have begun a rigorous testing phase, including a mandatory 1,000-kilometer trial. This upgrade will enhance accessibility and increase the proportion of low-floor trams to nearly 40%.

Budapest Looks to the Future of Public Transit

As part of a long-term modernization plan, Budapest will introduce 51 CAF trams by 2026. Additional trams are expected by 2030, bringing over 100 new vehicles to the city’s network.

The new trams will initially operate on southern Pest lines, with plans to expand coverage to routes like 1, 14, 42, and 50. Securing EU funding and infrastructure upgrades is critical to these improvements.
