BCPL RVNL electrification upgrade moves forward with lowest bid
23.11.2025
BCPL RVNL electrification upgrade has moved a step closer to delivery after BCPL Railway Infrastructure reported that it had placed the lowest bid for Rail Vikas Nigam’s overhead electrification project, first reported by ET Infra. The company added that the work will be carried out under general contract conditions with an execution period of 18 months.
This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Project scope and technical upgrade
The offer, priced at ₹789.77 million including GST, covers a full package of works. As outlined in a recent BCPL corporate filing with BSE, the scope spans supply, erection, testing and commissioning activities needed to shift the existing 1x25kV arrangement to a 2x25kV AT feeding system in line with the tender conditions. This technical change sits at the core of the overhead electrification upgrade and follows the specifications set out by Rail Vikas Nigam (RVNL).

Route coverage in Vijayawada Division
The BCPL RVNL electrification upgrade also provides for feeder and earthing works along the Ravikampadu (excluding)–Duvvada (including) section in the Vijayawada Division of South Central Railway. The corridor covers 100 route kilometres and 191 track kilometres, according to the official tender notice posted on Tendershark. The tender was floated by RVNL’s Secunderabad electrical unit as part of its broader electrification strategy.
Significance of the lowest bidder status
By emerging as the lowest bidder, BCPL is well placed to be selected to implement the BCPL RVNL electrification upgrade once the contracting authority completes its evaluation process, a point also reflected in wider market coverage of the bid outcome. Final award decisions will follow standard RVNL procedures, but the offer underlines BCPL’s continuing role in large-scale electrification projects in this region.
