Battery Tram-Train for Argentina

China’s CRRC company has sent the first batch of battery tram-trains to Argentina, as reported by the railway portal Railway Supply.
Photos of the loading of two trains at the Nantong port were published in various Chinese media outlets.
According to reports, this rolling stock is expected to arrive in Argentina at the end of November, where it will undergo setup and testing.
Battery-Powered Locomotives to be Deployed on Norland Line Railway
The first two-car train was produced in June of this year as part of a contract signed in 2022.
The volume of deliveries is not disclosed. These tram-trains are intended for servicing the tourist narrow-gauge line between Volcan and Tilcara, spanning 43 km with a maximum speed of 60 km/h.
They are equipped with two lithium iron phosphate batteries with a capacity of 352 kWh each, installed on the roof.
The interior with panoramic windows is designed for 72 passengers.
Driver’s cabins are located on both sides of the train.
