One of the key objectives of these investments is to increase the income level of the population by 2031 and transform Bangladesh into a developed country and a regional hub for international passenger traffic by 2041.

As part of this strategy, the railway sector will undergo significant changes.

Efforts are underway to cover all regions of the country with a railway network, modernize infrastructure, and transportation vehicles.

By 2026, it is planned to construct 275 km of new railway lines and reconstruct 210 km of existing lines.

In Dhaka, the capital city, the MRT-1 metro is being constructed, which will improve road conditions and enhance population mobility.

In the field of road transportation, active work is also being carried out.

There are plans to create multi-lane highways, speed corridors, as well as repair and expand existing roads.

In total, expansion of 1100 km, repair of 1250 km of roads, and reconstruction of 450 km of highways with the construction of bridges and drainage structures are planned.

These efforts are aimed at promoting the economic development of the country and improving the quality of life of its citizens.
