Bangalore Metro project scope and contract details
Hitachi won the contract to provide Automatic Fare Collection system of Phase-2A and 2B. Scope is design, manufacture, supply, installing, testing, and integration into exising infrastructure.
They consist of the 18 km Blue Line from K.R. Puram to Silk Board and a 37 km airport link from Kempegowda International Airport to Bengaluru city. They add a total of 17 new metro stations.
BMRCL gave a deadline of 441 days to complete. Bidding saw five companies getting attracted. Through technical scrutinization, Hitachi Rail made its bid of $9.1 million lower than all others, including TVM Signalling and Transportation Systems which bid $11.8 million.
Bangalore Metro connectivity and its economic benefit
The expansion facilitates easier access to the airport as well as travel time between business corridors and central districts. Faster boarding along with contactless payment and integration across metro corridors will facilitate life for commuters.
Companies look forward to better logistics and commuter streamlining, and real estate and tourism benefit from improved airport access. Suppliers, construction businesses, as well as technology partners from all of India, also have opportunities from this project.
Urban analysts emphasize that the project supports India’s sustainable mobility goals. Because traffic congestion grows daily, expanding metro coverage reduces reliance on private vehicles and supports smart, eco-friendly transport choices.
