Balfour Beatty Secures £23M Annual Deal with Network Rail

Balfour Beatty has confirmed its reappointment as a key partner in Network Rail’s eight-year Supply Chain Services framework. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The contract, valued at £23 million annually, will involve the supply and maintenance of tamping machines for track renewal projects across the UK.

These machines lift the track and pack ballast under the sleepers to realign and stabilize the railway, ensuring smoother operations and fewer disruptions.
Balfour Beatty’s Commitment to Innovation and Sustainability
With over 25 years of experience, Balfour Beatty continues to invest in advanced rail technology, ensuring it delivers safe and cost-effective solutions. The company’s modern fleet includes four electric tamping machines, set to begin service in 2025–2026, aligning with both Balfour Beatty’s sustainability goals and Network Rail’s commitment to decarbonization.
Mick Rayner, Managing Director of Balfour Beatty’s Rail business, expressed pride in their continued collaboration with Network Rail. He stated, “By leveraging our modern, sustainable fleet, we will ensure a resilient and efficient railway network.”
Work on the project will commence in Spring 2025, with Balfour Beatty employing up to 110 people at peak times.
