Automated Metro Train by CAF Unveiled in Madrid

In Madrid, CAF showcased an automated metro train from the Inneo platform on the square. The full-scale lead car stands on display at Plaza de Colón until late April. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Spanish manufacturer CAF secured an order for 80 six-car trains in 2024. The total contract value, including maintenance, exceeds $900 million, marking a significant investment.
The first trains will start carrying passengers in 2027, per the approved timeline. Production has already kicked off at CAF’s facilities in Zaragoza and Beasain, progressing swiftly.
Automated Metro Train: Technology and Comfort
New trains will boost capacity from 1,200 to nearly 1,400 passengers. Plus, the top speed will rise by 33%, hitting 110 km/h, speeding up commutes.
