Avanti West Coast Launches Virtual Career Course for Youth

Avanti West Coast has launched a free virtual work experience course for students aged 13 and up who are interested in exploring rail careers. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The six-hour online program, developed with Springpod, covers engineering, customer service, and office-based roles. Learners can complete the course at their own pace and earn a certificate upon finishing.

So far, more than 150 students from 91 schools have joined the program. It supports the King’s “Get into Railways” initiative, which connects young people with industry skills and job experience.
Jo MacPhail, People Director at Avanti West Coast, said the goal is to build a pipeline of talent. She emphasized the importance of engaging future professionals early to shape a stronger railway workforce.
