Officials propose a 69.04 km railway line linking Kokrajhar in Assam to Gelephu. This project, costing ₹3,500 crores, promises to improve trade and tourism significantly.
Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw unveiled the plan at the Guwahati Summit last week. He detailed six new stations, including Balajan and Gelephu, for better accessibility.
The infrastructure includes two key bridges and 29 major ones for smooth travel. Additionally, engineers plan 65 minor bridges, one ROB, and 39 RUBs strategically.
Sharma confirmed the Final Location Survey concluded successfully with the DPR submitted. Thus, the project awaits approval to proceed and transform regional connectivity soon.
