Arriva Group to Expand Rail Network in West Bohemia

This initiative strengthens Arriva Group’s position in the West Bohemia region. The new electric trains will provide passengers with faster, more comfortable travel, while encouraging a shift away from car use.

The service aims to reduce highway congestion and cut harmful emissions. It also supports Czechia’s broader environmental targets for cleaner, more efficient public transport.

Sian Leydon, Arriva Group’s Managing Director for Mainland Europe, called the project a flagship milestone. She noted it enables the company to offer high-quality zero-emission mobility across key urban corridors.

Arriva Group’s Largest Investment in Czechia to Date

Arriva entered the Czech market in 2013 and currently operates more than 100 trains along with an extensive bus network. This contract represents the company’s largest investment in the country to date.

Daniel Adamka, Managing Director of Arriva CZ, said the new trains will improve comfort for passengers traveling between Prague and Western Bohemia and help attract more riders to rail services.

The Czech government awarded the contract after a competitive bidding process with four participants. Details about the train manufacturer and delivery timeline will follow in the next project phase.
