Amtrak Train 95 Forced into 2-Hour Halt as Suffolk Trackside Fire Blocks Right-of-Way

Amtrak Train 95 delay followed a Friday fire in Suffolk. It happened in a wooded area near railroad tracks along Delaware Avenue. The fire also left a young person with significant injuries and burns. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The train was passing through the area at the time. The tracks had to be closed because of access issues at the fire scene, as reported by WAVY. Amtrak said Train 95, which was headed to Norfolk, experienced a “lengthy delay.” By 8:55 p.m., the Norfolk-bound Amtrak train was moving again. It was running about 2 hours and 15 minutes behind schedule.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from the wooded area. Additional firefighters helped fight the fire because of the location and access challenges. After crews gained access to the fire, they found the young person. Crews were dealing with about one acre of woods on fire.
