Amtrak Opens Ticket Sales for New York State Fair Trains

Amtrak has opened ticket sales for five daily trains serving the Great New York State Fair from August 26 through September 7, giving visitors direct access to the Syracuse fairgrounds.

Five trains will stop at the fairgrounds each day
The official service announcement confirms that select Empire Service and Maple Leaf trains will stop at The State Fair station, located between Rochester and Syracuse, on every day of the 13-day event. Passengers should choose destination code “NYF” when booking; tickets are offered only for dates when the fair is open.
The daily schedule is:
- Maple Leaf 63 departs Moynihan Train Hall at 7:15 a.m. and arrives at 1:11 p.m.
- Maple Leaf 64 departs Toronto at 8:20 a.m. and arrives at 2:29 p.m.
- Empire Service 281 departs Moynihan Train Hall at 10:20 a.m. and arrives at 4:21 p.m.
- Empire Service 283 departs Moynihan Train Hall at 1:20 p.m. and arrives at 7:13 p.m.
- Empire Service 284 departs Niagara Falls at 6:27 a.m. and arrives at 9:29 a.m.
Tickets are available through the Amtrak website, its mobile app, station ticket counters or 1-800-USA-RAIL. The dedicated stop places passengers steps from the fairgrounds, while the listed trains provide direct options from New York City, Toronto and Niagara Falls, as well as intermediate communities.

Fair dates and admission details
The Great New York State Fair opens Wednesday, August 26, and continues through Labor Day, Monday, September 7. Adult admission costs $8 plus fees, while entry is free for adults aged 65 and over and children aged 12 and under.
Admission includes grounds entertainment, agricultural competitions and exhibits, and concerts at Chevy Court and Suburban Park. The fairgrounds cover 375 acres and operate throughout the year.
Direct Amtrak service to the event has been offered since 2002. Passengers can use free Wi-Fi, Business Class seating and a café car, while online bookings made at least five days before travel may qualify for the See NY and Save discount.
