12.02.2024
Alstom continues to strengthen its position in the metro train supply market, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The recently announced order for 103 MF19 trains totaling €1.1 billion from the Île-de-France regional transport authority (IdFM) in Paris is a significant addition to the 2019 contract.
Harting plans to release inter-car connectors for Stadler TINA trams
This order, which is an option to the previous contract for the delivery of up to 444 trains, will be fulfilled starting from 2025.
The MF19 trains will be available in either four- or five-car configurations and can be equipped with or without a driver’s cab for autonomous operation capability.
The manufacturer promises a 20% reduction in energy consumption, thanks to regenerative braking and the use of LED lighting.
These measures aim to decrease energy usage and operational costs.
The introduction of the new trains is planned on various Paris metro lines from 2025 to 2029, contributing to the modernization of the Paris metro and enhancing passenger comfort and safety.
Additionally, Alstom continues to work on other projects for the Paris metro, including supplying rubber-tired MP14 trains since 2020 and the order of driverless Metropolis trains for future lines 15 and 18.
