Alstom has signed a contract with Metro de Sevilla to modernize the signaling system of the city’s metro and to provide its ongoing technical maintenance in Seville, the capital of Andalusia. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The agreement includes the renewal of central control systems, trackside balises, and onboard signaling interfaces in driver cabins. Alstom will ensure full system integration for accurate and stable operations.

Alstom to Upgrade Key Signaling Components

In addition, Alstom will handle the maintenance of railway automation and telecommunication systems, including signals, track circuits, point machines, and other critical infrastructure.

The company will also monitor and support the condition of onboard equipment to enhance operational safety and system reliability.

Seville’s metro currently operates one line stretching 18 km with 22 stations, launched in 2009. The trains are based on the Urbos platform developed by Spanish manufacturer CAF.

Alstom to Provide Full Infrastructure Support

Construction of the first section of Line 3 is underway, and preparations are ongoing for the development of Line 2, aiming to expand the urban transport network.

Metro de Sevilla was established by the Andalusian government in 2003 to design, build, and operate light metro projects. Over the years, the operator has demonstrated strong management and a commitment to innovation.

The partnership with Alstom highlights the region’s focus on digital transformation and the drive to improve the quality of urban mobility.
