Alstom entered into a 10-year €42.1m maintenance deal for the Delhi Metro, which includes secure train running, depot maintenance and signalling support and underlines the long-term partnership of the company in India’s thriving urban transportation business.

Alstom strengthens presence in India’s metro network

The DMRC deal covers overall maintenance of the depot plant and machinery along with the metro trains manufactured by Bombardier at the Badli Depot. In addition to this, Alstom will also take care of the depot and train housekeeping.

In the interim period, the company shall also retain onboard signalling equipment for 103 trains operating along Lines 1 and 2. The range of this work comprises technical assistance, provision of spares, and diagnostic enhancements like data logger cards for high-end failure identification.

Alstom focuses on reliability and sustainability

With this agreement, Alstom will perform planned and corrective maintenance for high fleet reliability. Therefore, the OEM-backed predictive analytics and services will minimize downtime and enhance asset lifecycle in a way that passengers in the Delhi Metro experience long-term operating advantages.

The company highlighted how its worldwide experience—through more than 250 sites and 35,500 vehicles in maintenance—will support DMRC’s vision for safe and sustainable transportation. In addition, this deal highlights India’s broader “Make in India” initiative for urban transit modernization.
