Alstom Secures 10-Year Contract to Maintain Sweden’s Norrtåg Fleet

Alstom has signed a 10-year, €60M contract to maintain Sweden’s Norrtåg train fleet. This agreement highlights Alstom’s role in supporting sustainable rail services with cutting-edge digital solutions. This was reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Comprehensive Maintenance Plan by Alstom
Alstom will conduct preventative and corrective maintenance, repairs, de-icing, overhauls, and wheel-turning for 12 Coradia Nordic trains. Additionally, each train will integrate HealthHub, Alstom’s digital platform for predictive maintenance. HealthHub uses real-time data to optimize train performance and reduce downtime, further enhancing customer satisfaction.
Alstom and Northern Sweden’s Green Development
Northern Sweden is witnessing rapid industrialization tied to green initiatives. Alstom’s Managing Director, Maria Signal Martebo, emphasized that efficient train maintenance plays a vital role in supporting sustainable travel and freight transport. Maintenance operations will start in December 2025, in Umeå and Luleå, ensuring long-term reliability and performance.
Alstom is also training additional staff in Luleå to meet the fleet’s maintenance needs. This effort demonstrates the company’s commitment to innovation, workforce development, and sustainability within Sweden’s rail industry.
This project positions Alstom as a leader in digital innovation, supporting Sweden’s push toward modern, efficient, and eco-friendly transportation solutions. With €60M allocated for maintenance and upgrades, Alstom reinforces its dedication to advancing global rail technology.
