Alstom Debuts First Metro Train for Pune, India: Project Highlights

French company Alstom unveiled its first three-car Metropolis train for Pune’s metro, with trials underway on the third line since June. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Alstom’s Train Specifications for Pune’s Metro
The train operates on a 750 V DC third rail, designed for a top speed of 85 km/h and an average of 34 km/h. It can carry up to 1,000 passengers.

However, the project extends beyond a single train. Pune has received four of the 22 ordered trains. Therefore, the 23.3-km line with 23 stations will be completed by March next year.
Meanwhile, the initial 13-km section is set to open in September. This will enhance urban mobility. The contract was signed in 2021.
Alstom collaborates with Siemens and India’s Tata under a public-private partnership. Trains are manufactured in Sri City under the Make in India initiative, ensuring localized production.
