The trains feature the European Train Control System (ETCS) to ensure safety and operational efficiency. They can reach speeds of up to 200 kilometers per hour, meeting modern standards.

Features and Advantages of Alstom’s Electric Trains

In 2021, Alstom and Norske Tog signed a €1.8 billion framework agreement for up to 200 trains. The initial order includes 30 units scheduled for delivery after winter testing is completed by 2025.

These low-floor trains will operate on Oslo–Ski and Oslo–Stabekk routes, replacing outdated trains in service for over 40 years. Passengers can expect enhanced comfort and convenience, especially for those with reduced mobility.

Each six-car train accommodates 778 passengers, with 294 seated. The seating layout, arranged in a 2+2 configuration, increases capacity by 40% compared to older models.

Cutting-Edge Technology for Norwegian Railways

The trains provide multifunctional spaces for bicycles and strollers, along with wheelchair lifts for accessibility. Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems ensure comfort regardless of weather conditions.

These components are supplied by Wabtec, a trusted name in railway equipment. In February 2023, Norske Tog ordered an additional 25 trains for €230 million, underlining the project’s significance.

Alstom’s new trains mark a significant milestone for Norway’s railway infrastructure. They offer improved sustainability, comfort, and efficiency, advancing the country’s transportation systems with modern solutions.
