Alstom has delivered the first train from the Metropolis family for the new Line 3 of the Pune Metro, the second-largest city in the Indian state of Maharashtra, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Alstom Delivers First Metropolis Train

This significant step in urban infrastructure development represents an important milestone in the project carried out under the Indian government’s Make in India initiative.

All components and assembly of the train were completed exclusively by Indian enterprises, highlighting the country’s commitment to developing its manufacturing capabilities.

The delivered train, designed for operation at speeds up to 85 km/h (with a design speed of 95 km/h), was built at Alstom’s plant in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.

This modern facility meets all international quality and safety standards, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the new trains.

The construction project for Pune Metro Line 3 began in October 2018 when the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) signed a contract with a consortium consisting of TRIL Urban Transport Private (part of Tata group) and Siemens Project Ventures (a subsidiary of Siemens Financial Services).

This project aims to significantly improve the city’s transportation system, reduce travel time, and enhance passenger comfort.

Pune Metro Line 3 will become a major transport artery, connecting key areas of the city and facilitating easier movement for thousands of residents.

The new Metropolis train is equipped with modern technologies, ensuring not only high speed and safety but also passenger comfort.

The cars feature comfortable seating, air conditioning, and information screens, making travel pleasant and convenient.

This project also plays a crucial role in reducing air pollution in the city, as the use of the metro helps decrease the number of cars on the roads, thereby reducing carbon dioxide emissions.

Implementing such eco-friendly transportation solutions is part of the broader strategy for sustainable urban development in India.

Thus, the delivery of the first train for Pune Metro Line 3 by Alstom is not only a technical achievement but also an important step towards improving urban infrastructure and the quality of life for city residents.

This project demonstrates the successful collaboration between international and Indian companies under the Make in India initiative and shows how modern technologies can contribute to the sustainable development of cities.
