Alstom Signs New Contract in Brazil

Alstom, in collaboration with Metrô BH, the metropolitan transit authority of Belo Horizonte in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, has signed a contract for the supply of a train control system for the existing Line 1 and the under-construction Line 2 of the metro system, as reported by the railway portal Railway Supply.
This contract also encompasses the provision of a traffic management center and the implementation of an automatic train operation (ATO) system.

Alstom will be involved in upgrading Line 1, which spans 28.1 km, including an extension of 1.6 km, scheduled to open in 2026.
Furthermore, Alstom will work on Line 2, covering a length of 10.5 km, with construction expected to conclude in 2027 and operations set to commence in 2028.
A total of 48 ATO equipment sets will be installed on the trains running on Line 1, and another 24 trains to be procured.
The primary aim of this contract is to enhance safety and reliability for over 260,000 daily passengers using the metro.
Moreover, in May 2023, Alstom signed a contract for the modernization of train control systems for Line 9 of the São Paulo metro.
