Alstom is considering the possibility of implementing STILFOLD technology in the field of railway engineering, as reported by the railway portal Railway Supply.
STILFOLD, also known as ‘industrial origami,’ is based on creating volumetric structures from flat metal sheets using robots, eliminating the need for cutting and welding.
This reduces material waste, energy consumption, product weight, and can potentially lower production costs.

The French company Alstom is collaborating with the Swedish project and technology company STILFOLD to analyze the application of this technology in its manufacturing processes and identify areas where it would be most effective.
It is expected that this technology will help Alstom reduce resource consumption, decrease component weight, and enhance the strength and durability of railway structures.
Currently, STILFOLD technology is already being used by the subsidiary startup STILRIDE for the production of electric motorcycles.
