Alstom is investing $125 million to enhance its operations in Poland, strengthening its production capabilities in Chorzów, Wrocław, and Nadarzyn under a development program running through 2027. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Alstom’s investments support plant upgrades in Chorzów and Wrocław

In Chorzów, the company will build three new production halls covering 8,000 m² and equip them with advanced manufacturing lines. A new railway siding will also be added to boost logistical efficiency.

The project is valued at $43.7 million. This facility has already produced 1,300 railcars for Coradia Stream trains delivered to Italy. New contracts will require further modernization of the production site.

In 2022, Alstom launched an aluminum car body welding line in Wrocław. The $10 million initiative marked a shift from traditional steel to lighter and more energy-efficient materials.

Świętochłowice facility expands component production for Alstom trains

In 2024, Alstom opened a new 10,000 m² workshop in Świętochłowice, where it produces cabins and components for Coradia Max, Coradia Stream, and metro rolling stock.

The plant also handles train assembly and refurbishment. Its operations are closely integrated with the Chorzów site, which serves as Alstom’s key competence center for regional and urban rail solutions.

Across Poland, Alstom operates nine industrial sites with approximately 4,500 employees. Its current order book includes Coradia Stream trains for Denmark, Romania, and Bulgaria, as well as around 200 Coradia Max double-decker trains for German regional networks, including Bremen, Lower Saxony, Baden-Württemberg, and the Main-Weser system.
