The design includes six bogies, positioned in the front and middle carriages. The maximum speed of these new trams is 70 km/h, making them a fast and convenient transport option.

The heating system utilizes heat generated from the traction equipment, reducing energy consumption in winter. This solution helps maintain a comfortable temperature without excessive electricity use.

Manufacturing and Project Funding

The purchase of 60 modern trams cost €120 million as part of the 2021–2022 options. The initial contract was signed by the Västtrafik transport company in 2016.

The agreement was made with Bombardier Transportation, which became part of Alstom in 2021. Vossloh Kiepe also participated in the project before joining Knorr-Bremse.

The rolling stock is assembled at Alstom’s plant in Bautzen, Germany. The traction drive and electronic systems for the vehicles are produced by Knorr-Bremse.
